His presentation included the following summaries:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Key NJ Facts <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Policy and legislative drivers <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Market and commodity trends <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Risks and upside scenarios <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strategic recommendations <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Key factors to watch <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Q4 2025 Forecast<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NJDEP RECYCLING PROGRAM UPDATE<\/strong> &#8211; Director Seth Hackman &amp; Assistant Director Dana Lawson, NJDEP Division of Sustainable Waste Management <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Director Seth Hackman gave updates on the following topics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Website <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Data Access <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plastics Law<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food Waste <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Assistant Director Dana Lawson then gave updates on the following topics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lithium Batteries <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Class B Recycling<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Solar Panels <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>E-Waste <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food Waste <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NJDEP US EPA REGION 2\u2019s SUSTAINABLE MATERIAL MANAGEMENT PROGRAM, Building a Circular Economy from Region 2: Sustainable materials management and Pollution <\/strong>&#8211; Rachel Chaput, USEPA<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rachel Chaput discussed recycling as part of the bigger picture within solid waste management. Specifically, she mentioned:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How recycling has bipartisan support nationwide<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Efforts to support a circular economy in Region 2 (i.e. food waste reduction grant opportunities)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Congressional reports are in progress (i.e. batteries, critical minerals, built environment, textiles)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>EV Incentives <\/strong>&#8211; Ed Howell, PSEG<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PSEG can provide help with infrastructure, i.e., getting power to your site. PSEG also has a fleet advisory program for people considering these types of projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NJ Clean Cities Coalition ELECTRIC VEHICLE\/EQUIPMENT DEMONSTRATION <\/strong>&#8211; Ed Howell, PSEG<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EVs were parked outside for attendees to view, and they were given half an hour from 11 to 11:30 to see them. They included a garbage truck, F-150, and a mustang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FOOD WASTE\/TABLE to TABLE<\/strong> &#8211; Julie Kinner, Table to Table (Saddle Brook)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, Table to Table operates in five counties, working towards bridging the gap by rescuing healthy perishable food and delivering it to people who need it. They have six refrigerated trucks with drivers, over three hundred volunteers, have many food donor partners, and they work with anywhere there is wasted food. It was highlighted that they:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Try to match donations with the right agency<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recognize the environmental impact of their work<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Need for support &amp; they never accepted federal funding<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discussed ways to partner<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Introduced the i-rescue volunteer app<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>REPAIR CAF\u00c9 <\/strong>&#8211; Brian Hanson-Harding, Rutherford Repair Caf\u00e9 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brian Hanson-Harding, a member of the Rutherford Green Team, organized a repair caf\u00e9 to keep trash out of the waste stream and build community. A repair caf\u00e9 is a community event where people can get things repaired for free. The website repaircafegs.org lists at least seven regular cafes in NJ, and has a starter kit that was helpful for the speaker in starting his repair caf\u00e9. Reasons he discussed to hold a repair caf\u00e9 include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reducing waste<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tapping into people skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sharing knowledge<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Building a sense of community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The speaker also went over the objects that get repaired, as well as the processes of setting up and having clients sign in \/ a waiver. The speaker then discussed various things that were needed at a repair caf\u00e9 like outlets, bathrooms, etc. and venue considerations, as we;as having repair coaches.  He recommended keeping track of different repair types, getting feedback, and recruiting high school students in to learn how to make repairs themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AUTOMATED SOLID WASTE\/RECYCLING COLLECTION <\/strong>&#8211; Hassan Brown, Borough of Paramus<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hassan Brown discussed his experience implementing automated collection in Paramus, stating the hardest part was getting buy in from the council. An initial hurdle included people worried about losing jobs, but no one lost their jobs; responsibilities shifted. Costs include trucks and bins if the municipality provides them. Regarding health and safety, work compensation claims dropped but some drivers developed wrist issues from the repetitive joystick motion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He provided a summary of recommendations including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Involving the team early<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Educating residents<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Planning financially for more than trucks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Having pilot programs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Planning for maintenance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>He also recommended passing an ordinance describing whether residents receive cans or are responsible for purchasing them as well as other details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For a more detail of each presentation and Q&amp;A, please refer to the attached meeting summary document and
