- Updates on MCMUA recycling and household hazardous waste programs.
- Reminders: Next HHW drop-off event day on June 21, 2025 from 9 AM to 2 PM at Chatham High School. Electronics and latex paint are not accepted.
- Semiannual e-waste reports due to NJDEP by July 31, 2025.

MCMUA Food Rescue Assessment (10:25 – 10:50)

- Update on the progress of the MCMUA Food Rescue Assessment.
- New Jersey’s statewide goal to reduce the amount of food waste generated annually by 50% by 2030.
- New Jersey’s food waste legislation (N.J.S.A. 13:1E-99.122) requiring large food waste generators of over 52 tons of food waste per year to source separate and recycling food waste if located within 25 road miles of an authorized facility.
- Pending legislation requiring counties to update solid waste management plans to develop strategies to reach the 50% reduction of food waste. Pending legislation exempting community gardens operating on-site composting from certain NJDEP permits.

- Discussion of the goals and operations of the organization and their impact on preventing food waste and addressing food insecurity.
Community Food Bank of New Jersey (11:05 – 11:20)

- Overview of the role of the CFBNJ in food recovery supporting over 800 food pantries and organizations, including 15 in Morris County.
Loaves and Fishes Community Food Pantry (11:20 – 11:30)

- Overview of operations serving approximately 180 clients per week.
- Additional recycling programs including excess bread donations donated to local chicken farmers, plastic film recycling with NexTrex.

Lunch, Networking, and Municipal Recycling Awards (1:05 – 1:30)
- The MCMUA recognized MRCs and municipalities for their accomplishments over the previous year.
- Awards for achieving the 50% municipal recycling goal were given to the following towns: Boonton Town, Chatham Borough, Chatham Township, Chester Borough, Chester Township, Hanover Township, Madison, Morris Township, Pequannock, Randolph, Riverdale, Roxbury, and Wharton.
- Awards for most improved municipal recycling rate were given to the following towns: Chester Township (44% increase), Mountain Lakes (39% increase), and Mendham Borough (27% increase).
- The MCMUA recognized Adam Boothby, Holly Gallegan, and Maura Toomey for completing their CRP certification.
- Awards for best attendance in 2024 for attending 3 or more meetings were given to Kellie Ann Keyes, John Egbert, William Isselin, Rick Beyer, and Roger Read.
- The MCMUA recognized its retirees who remain active in the recycling community.
- The MCMUA recognized the following municipalities for their continued commitment to providing quality recycling programs for residents: Boonton Township, Butler, East Hanover, Florham Park, Harding, Jefferson, Kinnelon, Long Hill, Mendham Township, Mine Hill, Morris Plains, Morristown, Mount Arlington, Mount Olive, Netcong, Parsippany-Troy Hills, Rockaway Borough, Rockaway Township, and Victory Gardens.
